How to Use
What is the Image Converter?
The image converter changes image files between PNG, JPEG and WebP formats using your browser's built-in canvas engine. It also compresses images by adjusting quality, resizes them by width while keeping the aspect ratio, converts to grayscale and rotates 90 degrees clockwise.
How to use it
1. Choose an image by clicking the button, dragging and dropping it, or pasting from the clipboard.
2. Pick an output format, quality (JPEG/WebP only), target width, and optional grayscale/rotate.
3. Click Convert.
4. Preview the result and download it.
Compression notes
- The percentage shown compares the original file size with the converted file size.
- JPEG and WebP generally compress photos well; PNG is best for images with transparency or sharp edges.
- If the result is larger than the original, try a different format or lower the quality.
Tips
- Large images (over 10 MB or over 4000 px) show a warning because processing can be slow or memory-heavy.
- You can convert again with different settings - the result always updates in the output area.
Privacy
Conversion happens entirely in your browser. Your images never leave your device.
