How to Use
What is a Unix timestamp?
A Unix timestamp counts the seconds or milliseconds since 1970-01-01 00:00:00 UTC. It is a compact, timezone-independent way to store time in databases, logs and APIs.
How to use it
1. Enter a numeric timestamp and choose seconds or milliseconds.
2. Click Convert to Date to see the local timezone and UTC output.
3. To reverse the conversion, pick a date and time and convert it back to a timestamp.
4. Use Current Time to fill in the present moment.
Tips
- Most JavaScript APIs and databases use milliseconds.
- Many CLI tools, file systems and older systems use seconds.
- A 10-digit timestamp is in seconds; a 13-digit timestamp is in milliseconds.
